| By far the most popular and widely used DAN Training Program, Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries provides entry-level training to improve a diver's ability to recognize possible dive-related injuries and provide emergency oxygen first aid while activating the local emergency medical services (EMS). | An additional module to the Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries program, Advanced Oxygen First Aid refreshes what was learned in the entry-level class and takes it to the next level, teaching students additional skills for treating non-breathing divers. These skills include learning to use an MTV-100(Manually Triggered Ventilator) and a bag valve mask. | Though all divers know the best way to avoid marine life injury is simply not to touch the critters we encounter, the unavoidable sometimes happens. First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HMLI) teaches divers to minimize hazardous marine life injuries and reduce discomfort and pain. The course also provides information on specific types of injuries as well as the recommended first aid treatment. |

They seem to be everywhere these days -
airports, convention centers, even the mall. But does the
average person know how to operate an AED if the need arises?
Do divers know how to apply AED use to a diver in trouble? Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba Diving is a program designed to provide training on the easy-to-use devices and increase divers' confidence and ability to assist in emergency situations. In this program, divers learn the warning signs of cardiac arrest and how to use automated external defibrillators. |
Approximately
two-thirds of divers with decompression illness have evidence of
damage to the nervous system. But because the symptoms are
often vague and easily dismissed as insignificant or not
dive-related, treatment is not always sought when it's needed. On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers (Neuro) trains divers to recognize the signs and symptoms of decompression illness and activate emergency assistance. The program is especially useful to divemasters and instructors charged with the care of others, though it provides the same benefit to all - understanding the signs of DCI and determining their severity, both of which are critical steps to getting an injured diver to appropriate medical care. |
Divers and dive professionals interested in understanding first aid care for dive emergencies can now take the Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) course. This comprehensive program integrates the knowledge and skills from several DAN Training Programs into a single course. |
